03 — Why we picked it

Why it earns a place on the ladder.

The Vision 25 is for the player who wins games from forty yards. Ninety percent carbon is a lot of stick, and it earns it on the hit — the ball leaves fast and heavy, and the pro bow keeps enough lift on hand for an aerial when the line is broken.

What sets it apart at this level is the toe. Slap hits and hard tackles are where power sticks usually start to fray, and the reinforcement here means it takes the abuse and keeps its shape. Balanced-power weighting stops it feeling top-heavy, so you still have the touch for a first-time pass. A serious tool for a serious midfield.

Questions

Before you commit.

Who is a pro-bow power stick actually for?

A midfielder or attacker who scores and creates from distance. The pro bow racks the deepest legal curve high on the shaft, which is what lets you drag-flick and lift an aerial cleanly — but it asks for hands that already know where the ball is. If your game is built on hitting hard and playing balls forty yards up the pitch, this is your stick. If you are still building a reliable first touch, it will punish you before it rewards you.

What does 90% carbon feel like versus a softer composite?

Stiff and fast. A high-carbon layup barely flexes, so almost all of your swing goes into the ball rather than bending the shaft — that is the quick, heavy hit you are paying for. The trade-off is vibration: off-centre traps and hits sting more than they would on a glassy beginner stick, because there is less give to absorb the shock. Clean your technique up and the stiffness becomes free power; leave it rough and you will feel every mishit in your hands.

How do I choose the right length?

Stand the stick beside you and the top of the shaft should reach roughly your hip bone. We list the Vision 25 at 37.5″, which suits most adult players; drop to 36.5″ if you are shorter or want a lower, more controlled carry, and go to 38.5″ if you are tall or lean on your reach in the tackle. Every stick ships with a free size fitting, so if the length reads wrong in the hand we swap it inside fourteen days.

Is this overkill for a club player?

Honestly, for a lot of club players, yes — and we would rather say so. The Vision 25 rewards a swing that is already fast and technically clean; on a developing game its stiffness mostly amplifies your mistakes. If you play regular competitive hockey and your hit and aerial are already weapons, it will add real yards. If you are still smoothing out your basics, a more forgiving composite will do more for your game and cost you a lot less.
